Tortal Training Launches New Course Development Tools and Services

Charlotte, NC, June 28, 2018 – Tortal Training, a leading training development company, is expanding its offerings with the introduction of two new services. The first is is the Tortal Course Authoring Tool, a platform that allows clients to author and update their own course materials as needed. The second service seamlessly converts training materials from the soon-to-be-discontinued Adobe Flash player to newer formats.

“We are introducing these new offering for the very simple reason that our clients have been asking for them,” says Lee Wedgeworth, Vice President Learning Technology of Tortal Training. We developed the Course Authoring Tool to assist smaller, emerging companies that want to build training content internally,” says Cordell Riley, President of Tortal Training. “It has been designed from the ground up to be easy to use and to create courses that are integrated into the client company’s Learning Management System. There is no software to buy. Tortal clients can simply log in and use it We have clients who started using it the day we released it and they are loving it so we are excited about that.”

The second service newly launched addresses the upcoming changes to Flash. Wedgeworth adds, “Most every company has some training that is still in Flash. They are concerned about converting that training before Flash goes away. We are now offering a special service to convert older training materials that used Flash into newer formats.”

About the Tortal Course Authoring Tool

The Tortal Course Authoring Tool is a unique and powerful new online resource that Tortal Training clients can use to write and update their own training programs. It allows clients to write new training courses and instantly offer them through the Tortal Learning Management System. Clients can also update and post older training materials. The Authoring Tool is interactive and easy to use, even for non-programmers. And it produces beautiful training content.

About Conversion Services for Training Materials that Rely on Flash Player

Adobe will discontinue distribution and support of its Flash media player by the end of calendar year 2020. For 20 years, Flash was the fundamental technology for web-based audio and video players too numerous to list. As such, it is very likely a technology that companies have used in their training materials featuring audio or video content.
“It’s very possible your company has legacy (aka ‘old’) content developed using Flash technology that has not been re-developed using an acceptable post-Flash format,” says Lee Wedgeworth, VP Learning Technology at Tortal. “Failing to convert that content prior to the discontinuation of Flash will result in that content no longer being accessible in modern browsers including desktop and mobile devices.”
