Education continued to follow that model for several decades before scientific studies in the 80s began to show that there are rhythms and rules to the many ways people perceive and learn things. Developmental and learning studies have been conducted ever since, revealing that there is a diverse range of scientifically validated learning styles that should be employed to get people to learn.
