Engagement: A Key Driver of Franchise Success

Imagine a well-run franchise as an orchestra.  All of the musicians are attentive, working together and following the conductor’s lead to make a beautiful piece of music.  Then, imagine what it would be like to be part of such a franchise, or to be a franchisor conducting the orchestra—the passion, energy, focus, cooperation and profitability.  Now think about your franchise.  How similar is it to an orchestra?

This is an excerpt from my article, “Engagement: A Key Driver of Franchise Success,” which was recently published in Franchising World Magazine.  The article includes a number of how-to tips; which do you think are most important in improving engagement? What signs of a lack of engagement have you seen in the business world?   You can read the full article by clicking on the following link: http://www.ingageconsulting.com/article1.pdf.

  1. Evan, that’s a great article. The section titled, “Better on-boarding” is one of the Key Success Factors that most companies totally miss the mark on. ( I also like the design of your company website too). Hope all is going well for you and your family.

  2. Great article Evan, You nailed it on the head about the relationship between Franchisee and Franchisoor.

Also liked “Better on-boarding” and how you set standards with new comers and hold them to it. the trained and excited new comers along with already engaged members will create a momentum for a better team.

the only part that i didnt see enough emphasis was the pyramid of accountability! many leaders dont set the right examples and excuse themselves from any chain of accountability! I believe that your team, children and company is a direct reflection of your everyday conducts!

    Again, great article
thank you for sharing it with us

  3. Colin,

I definitely agree with you about on-boarding. I believe it is very important but most companies do not understand this. Also, thank you for checking out the website, I’ve worked a lot on it and I’m glad you liked it! Thank you for your thoughts.

  4. Thanks for the input, Shawn. Your point about accountability is certainly an important one. I believe that everyone in an organization is accountable and has a responsibility to that organization. Leaders and employees alike need to be engaged in order for a company to be successful.
